Therapeutic venesection is another service we offer at Charlestown Family Medical Services. Typically this is required by patients who tend to absorb too much iron (haemochromatosis). These patients may be advised by their doctor to have blood taken at intervals ranging from every few weeks to only a few times per year.
Having venesection at CFMS is a convenient alternative to having the procedure done at the Blood Bank or at the Haematology Unit. No paperwork, and your GP is on site to supervise the procedure and make follow up arrangements regarding blood testing and further treatments at the point of service.
If you have been advised that you require therapeutic venesection, feel free to book an appointment for this to be done at CFMS at a time that suits you. Our experienced nurses and doctors will only need about 30 minutes of your time.
