Our Doctors
Susan Feketey

Susan graduated from UNSW in 1995 and after completing her hospital training and a diploma of obstetrics & gynaecology, moved to Newcastle in 1999 to finish her general practice training.  Susan's special interests are Womens Health, Paediatrics & Skin Cancer.

Elaine Stafford

I completed my general nursing certificate in Canberra in 1986 in the old "hospitals training format " before heading to Sydney to complete a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in physiology and pharmacology. Following this I moved to Newcastle to undertake my medical degree ,completing this in 1997. I worked in various local hospitals to complete the hospital portion of junior doctor training, undertook further rotations in anaesthetics and intensive care and then spent just under 10 years working in emergency medicine, mostly at the Calvary Mater hospital .I was director of clinical training for junior doctors in the last year there. I have also worked as a medical educator with General Practice Training Valley to Coast. I am an examiner for the FRACGP examinations.General practice allows me to enjoy the full breadth of medicine, I have an interest in internal medicine,musculoskeletal medicine ,antenatal care, minor skin cancer surgery and medical education.

Simone Williamson

Graduating from Newcastle University in 2001 with Honours, Simone has been in General Practice since 2003. She became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2006. Simone has worked at the practice since 2005. Whilst working in general practice, Simone has developed skills in women's health having worked with Family Planning NSW for 5 years. She is trained in IUD contraception insertion. Simone has a special interest in Mental Health  Being a lifelong Novocastrian, Simone has a passion for the health and wellbeing of local families within the practice and community

David is a Newcastle local, having grown up here and trained in Medicine at the University of Newcastle, graduating with honours in 1993.
He obtained his RACGP qualification in 1997 and following some time in Sydney and Far North Queensland, has worked as a GP for the last 20 years in Port Macquarie.
David has extensive experience in general practice, university medical education and post graduate registrar training. He has returned to Newcastle to be closer to extended family and is a Casual Academic/Tutor at the University of Newcastle, Faculty of Medicine and Public Health.
He is passionate about evidenced based, high quality medicine and patient advocacy. 
He is really enjoying being back in Newcastle.

Our Practice

Charlestown Family Medical Services is a long established family practice offering comprehensive medical care for the whole family.  Our doctors' skills encompass all areas of general practice.  Our modern facility caters for disabled and wheelchair patients and we are conveniently located close to pathology and radiology services.

We keep appointments free on the day for people who are acutely ill and we happily welcome new patients to our practice.

THE PRACTICE

PAYMENT POLICY

 

This is a private billing practice and we kindly ask that patients  pay the full amount for the consultation on the day. We accept cash, EFT, Visa or Mastercard. The medicare rebate will be refunded into your bank account at the time of payment if you have a debit card, or into  your nominated bank account  if you have lodged your account details with medicare.

We offer a reduced fee for pensioners , health care card holders. Children and University students under 25 will be bulk billed.

Our Nursing Staff

Our nurses are available Mondays to Fridays to assist with patient care including triaging urgent cases, assisting with procedures, vaccinations, wound care and early childhood immunisations.
 
They also provide chronic disease care planning by spending time with you to ensure you understand and can manage your conditions optimally.
 
Our nurses understand the needs of our patients and have developed care models that ensure the best patient outcomes.
